Lately, when opening a web site, I am deluged with advertisements which I do not want. It is only when I go back to the web site and click again on it, that I get what I want. How can I avoid the advertisements and get what I want on the first click on the web site as used to be the case until recently?
Download and install the latest Firefox browser:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
Also install "adblock plus":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Result: no more annoying ads! And pages are loading much quicker too…:-)
http://www.admuncher.com/ – this adblocker for the IE (and other browsers) gets highly recommended in several forums.
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26171/safari-adblock – for Safari Mac
http://opindian.com/blog/2009/02/25/adblock-solution-for-safari-4-windows-and-mac/ – another solution for Safari 4 Win and Mac.
I personally have the Firefox installed and don’t even see anymore ads on the YA pages…:-)

This annoyed me so much before. If you are using Internet Explore as your browser, I think you can enable the pop-up blocker, because the things that come up when you first click a website are basically all pop-ups. So open Internet Explore, go to Tools menu, and you’ll see the second is ‘Pop-up Blocker’. Click it and you’ll see there are two choices. One is Turn-on Pop-up Blocker, and the other one is Pop-up Blocker settings. If you just want to block the most automatic pop-ups, just click Turn-on Pop-up Blocker; this is medium blocking, which is default and recommended.
But if you want to block all pop-ups (which is not really recommended), you should click Pop-up Blocker settings, and at the bottom of the window there are three choices- High, Medium and Low protection; click High to block all the pop-ups.
Other browsers like Firefox is similar.
Hope it works for you~~
